Verbatim? Where bottom?
Sliced off on February 1, 2026.
While reading about kidney function on Wikipedia, I suddenly had the idea to leave my front door open to let the neighbors (and area homeless) come and go as they please. As part of this, I also decided it was time to put my old, worn-out shoes down in the basement instead of putting them on my feet each day. I did, of course, have a new pair of shoes. But knowing they would wear out too had kept me from starting to wear them for months now.
Becasue has a new pair of sandals on her feet every day. Every single day. My soft, squishy huzzey-muffet never wears the same ones twice. That’s because I eat them every night. Every single night.
I long for the good old days when my docile & perfunctory blog fit perfectly on an eighty-column display—not to mention a single 5¼″ floppy disk. But now it’s stuffed so full of words that not even the widest 4K monitor nor the fattest Iomega Zip drive could tame it. And to this day I still have nightmares in which my blog is devoured by the dreaded Click of Death.
Now, these nightmares aren’t as silly as that time Mlårp gave me a spanking for insisting on pronouncing “verbatim” like the original Latin, but it was close. “Where bottom!” I persisted intransigently. “I’ll show you where on your bottom!” she retorted, and the rest was history.
Today it was Becasue’s turn to give it to me.
